About Janece

Nebraska proud

Lifelong resident of Nebraska. Grew up in the North Loup Valley in central Nebraska, attended UN-L and UN-O and has worked in both rural and urban settings. She and her husband Wayne live in Ashland.


Currently serves as City Councilwoman for the City of Ashland.  Member of the Ashland Area Economic Development Corporation, and is on the Nebraska Land Trust's Lower Platte Valley Advisory Committee. Member of Rotary International, and is a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary. 

A lifetime of service

Career nurse and retired Army Colonel.  Retired in 2013 as Deputy Commander of a U.S. Army Hospital.  During mobilization was selected as Senior Nurse Case Manager for the Southern Regional Medical Command in 2008. For work with the wounded, ill and injured Soldiers, was awarded membership into the Order of Military Medical Merit.  


Leadership and commitment. In addition to clinical work in medical/ surgical, operating room and critical care nursing, developed and directed the Home Care and Hospice program at Boone County Health Center. Since 1995 was a Clinical manager at the Visiting Nurse Association  in Omaha.


Focus on family and community. As Natural Resources Director on the state board of League of Women Voters of Nebraska, works on policy issues related to public power, conservation and sustainable agriculture.  She was instrumental in the completion of a Water Quality Study and of an energy plan that prepares Nebraska for a brighter future.
